From July 7th to 11th, Riga hosted a highly anticipated bootcamp for the Accelerate2Move project. Supported by LMT, an intensive program delved into critical aspects of urban mobility.
Within the scope of the Accelerate2Move bootcamp, 12 trailblazing startups and other urban mobility enthusiasts engaged in a week of hands-on workshops, gaining access to valuable mentoring sessions and meaningful networking events as well. The bootcamp program focused on strategic development and market readiness.
Startups especially valued workshop sessions led by Priel Manes, CEO and Founder of Two Dots. Participants could delve into understanding the investor mindset, hone their pitching skills, develop scalable go-to-market (GTM) and revenue strategies, and more, all under the guidance of an experienced business strategist and communications expert.
The bootcamp also provided crucial information on funding opportunities from EIT Urban Mobility, brand building, solution piloting and testing, and discussed cutting-edge technologies, including AI, blockchain, 5G, V2X, and IoT, exploring their transformative impact on smart cities.
A significant session during the week-long bootcamp featured LMT’s Head of Innovation Ecosystems, Ilze Kauce, who provided an essential overview of the EU AI Act. Her presentation was designed to ensure startups understand how to responsibly and compliantly integrate AI. She also clarified the Act’s purpose, scope, and exceptions.
Additionally, Ilze shared nine actionable steps for companies to align with the new regulations, which were particularly useful for attendees. These included ensuring organization-wide AI literacy, conducting an AI usage inventory, assessing AI system risk levels, creating a compliance checklist, implementing documentation, monitoring the regulation for updates, and more.
The European Union has taken an active leadership role in AI governance and shown that the fundamental rights of EU people should always be put first in any business equation. Therefore, startups must be aware of and comply with new regulatory frameworks, such as the EU's AI Act. Compliance is no longer optional – it's a fundamental requirement, much like basic hygiene, for all product and service development,
