The LMT red light enforcement solution – Red Light Solution – has been nominated for the DEKRA Award 2021 in the ''Safety on the road'' category. The winner will be announced on Oct. 28, 2021, on the DEKRA website and social media profiles.

LMT’s plug-and-play traffic light camera uses computer vision technology to determine if a car has run a red light, then saves the car’s number plate in the system for violations processing. The key innovation lies in the camera’s ability to read the data without being connected to a traffic light control system, as well as its fast installation that takes just a few hours.

Statistics show that in EU countries every 100th driver ignores the red light signal, which often leads to accidents. LMT offers a comparatively low-cost, yet effective solution to this problem – a camera that can be installed on any existing traffic light pole that has access to electricity and is located in a place with mobile internet coverage. The solution’s biggest advantage is that it fits into the existing infrastructure instead of requiring expensive construction work.

The DEKRA Award focuses on outstanding achievements or solutions that make the world a safer place. The award is presented in four categories: ”Safety on the road”, ”Safety at work”, ”Safety at home”, and ”Startups”.

In the ”Safety on the road” category in which LMT’s Red Light Solution is nominated, the jury is looking for original ”concepts, initiatives, and measures that help to protect road users by means of innovative technical developments”.

Other solutions nominated in this category include Bosch’s intelligent truck parking solution, ABUS’ crash detection bicycle helmets, and Pirelli’s tire-mounted sensors that transmit data used to evaluate road safety.

In 2019, the winning solution was Bosch’s eBike System that combines the front-wheel ABS with a rear-wheel suspension control, ensuring better maneuvering options and therefore, greater safety for cyclists.
